Have Suitcases, Will Travel

June 12, 2009

This is what my older son bid on and won at his end-of-the-year school auction using his cumulative class points:

A snippet of the inevitable conversation that ensued when these greeted me on my return home yesterday:

Me:   Wow! These are cool.

David:   I won them at the school auction. Used all my points.

Me:   What else did they have at the auction?

David:   Battleships, books, mainly lots of toys.

Me:   Did you get there late?

David:   No, otherwise they might have been gone already.

Me:   Oh.

David:   Each one has little compartments. And they all fit into each other.

Me:   I see.

*pause*

Me:   Are you planning a trip?

David:   Maybe.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

My husband says he’s been talking about bidding on the suitcases for two weeks.

He turned 10 last month.

I see a lot of postcards in my future.

Oh my gosh…laughing out loud! Suitcases???? Ummm, yes–you will need postcards, and a Skype account. I would love to hear where he is planning to visit. Has he told you?

Probably Timbuktu, or anywhere without parental supervision.
My son is, shall we say, an independent spirit.
