I have “Reader’s Ear”!

March 25, 2009

I’ve had numerous complaints, so I’ve decided to give it a proper definition here in the hopes that doing so will raise awareness and begin funding for this little-known but possibly rampant condition:

 Reader’s Ear

-noun. Pathology

Temporary hearing impairment during bouts of engrossed reading bordering on tantric state. Main symptom is inability to register anything below 95 decibels regardless of proximity to needy child, spouse, pet, or other natural disaster. Complications include fatality when compounded with Reader’s Eye, Nose, Limb and Internal Organ as it means you’ve died while reading a book.

Hey, it worked for Lou Gehrig’s Disease…

I occasionally also suffer from talker’s block.
